Burnley boss Vincent Kompany added to Chelsea manager search amid Todd Boehly search

Chelsea are reportedly interested in appointing Burnley boss Vincent Kompany as their next manager after his astonishing first season managing in England.

Kompany has guided Burnley back to the Premier League after only one season with seven games remaining. The Clarets have won 26 this season, losing only twice and currently 13 points clear of second-placed Sheffield United.

The former Manchester City defender's job at Turf Moor has resulted in his services being highly sought after with reports in the past linking him with the Tottenham Hotspur job.

Now, it has been reported that Chelsea are interested in the Belgian to replace Graham Potter as Todd Boehly's third permanent manager. According to The Times, the club hierarchy 'admire' Kompany and have added him to Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart's list of potential candidates.

The duo are completing the thorough process after Frank Lampard was reinstated as caretaker manager until the end of the season. Lampard's return hasn't gone to plan yet, with the Blues legend losing his first three games following Saturday's home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Kompany's record in the Championship with Burnley has made him one of the most attractive up-and-coming head coaches in Europe. After a two-year spell in Belgium with RSC Anderlecht, the 37-year-old's future is expected to remain linked with other jobs after such an impressive season.

However, he has already revealed his stance on leaving the Lancaster-based club. "I don't waste answers on my future," he said. "I said it one day one of my job here at Burnley, that one day in anticipation that there might be a question like this so crack on."

He continued: "This is something that is the reason why I chose Burnley, I said it again and you can trace back to my very first interviews before I even played a game with this team," he said. "I chose for people and I feel that I made the right decision and it is an enviable place to work in, trust me, especially when we are speaking about managers getting sacked left, right and centre.

"We have got the infrastructure and talent, it is an enjoyable place to work in. "I think wherever I am, in my head it is always the biggest job in the world."
