Burnham vows to find Chagos Islands resolution with Mauritius after Trump administration pushback

Andy Burnham has acknowledged that no resolution is currently in place regarding the Chagos Islands deal, but has assured the Mauritian prime minister that he will work towards finding one.

The UK Government’s plans to relinquish sovereignty over the British Indian Ocean territory in exchange for retaining control of the joint UK-US military base on Diego Garcia have been paused since April following pushback from the Trump administration.
