A man smashed his way into a friend's house in the early hours of the morning and repeatedly punched and kicked him before striking him with a glass bottle and then trying to bite him. At one point Cory Perdue's terrified victim grabbed an air rifle and fired it towards his assailant to try to stop the attack. Swansea Crown Court heard Perdue has a long history of violence including attacking a former partner, spitting at a woman at a bus station, kicking a homeless man in the head, and breaking a man's jaw in a racially-aggravated attack at a Turkish restaurant.
Ashanti-Jade Walton, prosecuting, said Perdue and his victim Ian Craig were friends but that in the days leading up to the incident there had been a falling out apparently due to a dispute between Perdue's partner and Mr Craig. At around 3am on December 12 last year Perdue called his friend to ask if he wanted a beer before adding that he was coming over to his Sketty Park house to kill him. Mr Craig contacted the police about the threat and was told Perdue would be spoken to.
A while later the victim was sat in his living room when 27-year-old Perdue smashed the window of the Lon Olchfa property and climbed inside. Mr Craig grabbed a nearby air rifle and pointed it in the intruder's direction but Perdue responded by telling his friend he was "f***ing dead" before subjecting him to a barrage of around 20 kicks and punches. Perdue then picked up a large glass bottle and hit his victim on the head before trying to bite his ears and fingers. Mr Craig fired the air rifle towards his assailant to try to end the assault.
