Burger King releases new 'insane' burger with 20 slices of cheese and no meat

Burger King is now offering what it is calling a "real cheeseburger" - in what could well be every cheese lover's dream. Available exclusively in Thailand for now, the burger features a whopping 20 slices of cheese and no actual meat.

The item launched on Thai menus last Sunday, at a reduced price of 109 Thai baht (£2.41), compared with the usual cheeseburger price of 380 baht (£8.42). It quickly went viral on social media in Thailand, with many users on TikTok posting videos of them trying the new creation

"This is no joke. This is for real," Burger King said in a Sunday social media post, with American news network CNN soon speaking to locals trying the new cheesy offering. Im Jeepetch, a 25-year-old IT engineer, said she loved cheese but added: "This was a bit too much".

Another customer agreed that the cheeseburger was "too intense". Im added that she would probably not go for the 'real cheeseburger' again, instead go back to her usual "double cheese angus".

She went on to explain: "I could only finish half of it, this is an insane amount of cheese added into one burger. Food is good when things are at the right combination."

The cheeseburger has been so popular, there have been reports that one outlet in Bangkok had to stop offering the item for delivery, as they were running out of cheese. In light on the burger going viral, social media users have been keen to share their views.

On Twitter, NoTheOtherLeft joked: "There is still beauty in this world." JuiceMan_V replied: "Instant clogged arteries in one sandwich... Wish I could buy one."

It wasn't all positive however, as Ash3sr3turn claimed the burger looks "wrong on every conceivable level." Official_wzrd14 was left dismayed, writing: "Thats the nastiest ******* thing I could imagine. Like biting into a block of artificial cheese flavoured plastic."

The burger, which features no additional toppings, is currently only available to walk-in customers in Thailand. Other interesting items on the nation's Burger King menu include salmon katsu burgers and rice dishes, cheesy truffle hash browns and a breakfast dish called Pork Ball Congee - made using Jasmine rice porridge and meatballs in pork soup.
