Burger King launches first-ever gourmet chicken burger to rival McDonald's' McCrispy

Calling all fast-food lovers: Burger King is launching its first ever gourmet chicken burger, and it's set to rival McDonald's' new fan-favourite, the McCrispy.

The new Steakhouse Crispy Chicken looks to be a winner for anyone wanting a switch-up from the classic beef burger, as the fast food chain describes the 100% chicken breast burger as "succulent and crispy".

Hungry patrons can expect "mouth-watering" smoked bacon slices sat on top of the chicken patty, with a layer of British oak smoked cheddar cheese, as well as crispy onions, fresh rocket and a healthy dollop of Bullseye BBQ sauce.

The epic-looking burger is served in a lightly toasted brioche bun - and it sounds delicious.

Even more impressively, the good news doesn’t stop there - fans can enjoy a buy-one-get-one-free offer on the new burger alongside the Steakhouse Angus via the Burger King app from today until Friday, November 25.

That means if you have the Burger King app, you can sample the burger right now in participating restaurants and delivery partners nationwide.

A Steakhouse Crispy Chicken will cost £7.99 on its own, and a meal, with fries and a drink will set you back £9.99.

This launch comes just over a month after McDonald's launched the McCrispy burger on October 19.

The McCrispy was been branded a 'game-changer' by the company who claim it is the 'crispiest, crunchiest chicken burger out there' - but this was before the release of Burger King's rival.

Similarly to the Burger King offering, the McCrispy is made with 100% chicken breast fillet, which has been marinated in black pepper and cayenne.

It's topped with McDonald's classic mayonnaise with added cracked black pepper and a savoury roasted chicken flavour to give it a 'fancy' and 'umami' tase.

The whole thing is then served in a 4-inch artisan glazed bun, that has a 'sweet nutty toasted flavour'.

The McCrispy is available for £6.49 as part of an Extra-Value meal.

Last month, Burger King launched the Memphis Crispy Chicken which was pitted against the McCrispy by Mirror writer Danielle Kate Wroe and came out on top - so hopefully the Steakhouse Crispy Chicken is just as delicious.
