Burger King announces the return of popular burger - with a twist

Burger King is bringing back a range of iconic burgers to its menus - but this time there is a twist.

The fast food chain's iconic Bacon King range has officially landed back on menus nationwide from today and it includes a plant-based version.

Available for the first time ever will be the Plant-Based Bakon King which boasts a flame-grilled plant-based Whopper patty in a classic Whopper bun. It is then layered with slices of vegan Cheeeze and strips of vegan Bakon, and topped with egg-free mayo and ketchup.

Prices for the vegan-friendly burger do vary depending on the restaurant location, but a single is priced between £6.69 - £7.49. Meanwhile a double is priced between £7.69 - £8.49.

That's not the only plant-based burger to make its way onto the menu this month, as Burger King has also introduced the fully certified Vegan Royale Bakon King.

A vegan twist on the Chicken Royale, the burger is made with a Vegan Royale patty nestled in a soft sesame bun and then topped with sizzling vegan Bakon, two slices of smooth vegan Cheeeze, and drizzled with egg-free mayo and ketchup.

Foodies can also be assured that Burger King's menus will still feature the meat versions of both the Chicken Royale and Bacon King burgers.

Katie Evans, from Burger King UK said: “We’re incredibly proud of our new menu additions and confident that our customers will enjoy the new plant-based bacon and cheese as much as we have in taste tests!

"The extension of our plant-based offer reflects our ongoing commitment to serve a diverse and innovative range of products, whilst aiming to reach a 50% meat-free menu by 2030.”

The burger chain has also announced a brand new service from today that will offer customers plant-based add-ons to enjoy a plant-based menu their way.

It comes after successful trials in Leicester Square and Bristol, and it will allow customers to personalise any plant-based burger supplied by The Vegetarian Butcher with add-ons supplied by Violife vegan Cheeeze or La Vie Bakon.

The new Bacon King range is available now. Customers can head to their local branch, or download the Burger King app via Google Play and the App Store.
