Bungie is looking into Destiny 2: The Witch King’s crashing issues on PC

While most Destiny 2 fans are celebrating the Witch Queen expansion’s release, the PC version appears to be suffering some launch woes.

Over on the official Bungie Help Twitter account, the studio made a statement on Tuesday regarding stability issues and crashing on the PC version of Destiny 2: The Witch Queen

“We’re investigating issues where some PC performance optimization apps for graphic cards and fan speed control are causing Destiny 2 to crash,” Bungie said on Twitter. “Players encountering issues are encouraged to fully exit out of these applications before launching the game.”

As of the time of this post going live, Bungie has yet to administer a permanent fix to the ongoing problems. However, following the company’s advice about closing specific applications seems to be working for many.

MSI Afterburner is popular on PC since it allows for snappy, easily tweakable changes to a desktop’s performance — right down to fan speed. Many Destiny 2 players probably use it, hence why many are running into problems.

The extra technical hiccups come with the territory while playing video games on PC, though. Bungie will likely administer a fix as fast as possible, so Destiny 2 fans on the platform fans will have to hold tight for now.
