Original: The multi-colored cat may be out of the bag on the Marathon release date. A trailer, found sitting on an official Xbox forum, seems to reveal when the shooter will be playable, with the evidence hastily removed after players started spreading it around.
A Reddit user on r/Marathon is credited with making the discovery. By going to Marathon on the Xbox store and adding the upcoming FPS to your homepage, you can scroll down while hovering over the icon to a brand new teaser. At the end of the footage, we get that elusive information: "Coming March 5, 2026."
Naturally, fans were quick to start posting this video wherever they could. Once these rumblings seemingly caught the eye of Bungie, the trailer started disappearing again, giving tacit confirmation of its legitimacy.
Of course, versions can still be found around the information super highway if you're keen, though beyond the day you can play the game, there isn’t anything notable. The Alien-inspired logo reveal is very cool, mind, and contributes to a certain mystique around the release.
It's unclear when this information might get revealed properly, but it's likely to be soon given it's already been pre-uploaded onto at least one marketplace. An Xbox Developer Direct is set for this week, but Bungie's owned by Sony now, making an appearance there with such massive news distinctly unlikely.
Neither Sony nor Bungie have acknowledged this leak, nor has any sort of reveal livestream or event been confirmed just yet. We've had a couple of behind-the-scenes videos of late, one in December and the other just last week, indicating a marketing ramp up. We'll keep you informed.
