The Chicago Bulls have had a solid free agency. They have re-signed Nikola Vucevic and Coby White and have also brought in Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig to be key bench pieces. Chicago’s moves have all been in line with their goal to push for the playoffs. But their success rests largely on the shoulders of Zach LaVine.
Chicago inked LaVine to a massive contract extension last summer, making him one of the 20 highest-paid players in the league. He’s the one who needs to lead them on a playoff push. Meanwhile, off the court, LaVine has made use of his massive payday.
According to California Listings (h/t Daniel Greenberg), LaVine purchased a mansion in Pelican Crest, California for $34 million – the most expensive home ever on the market in the gated community.
“Though the sale happened earlier in the Spring, we’re now learning that NBA star Zach LaVine is the mystery buyer behind of the O.C.’s largest sales of the year,” wrote California Listings. “LaVine spent a cool $34 million on the Newport Coast home, boasting six bedrooms and seven bathrooms across 11,200 square feet.”

They made note of a wide array of features the home includes.
“The Pelican Crest trophy estate was marketed as having been completely redesigned with holistic wellness in mind, set back from the street and protected by iron gates for an increased level of privacy and security,” they wrote. “The indoor and outdoor spaces are seamlessly integrated by expansive custom windows and sliding doors throughout the property.
“The backyard has multiple styles of pools, while the indoor/outdoor gym area is equipped with a PRX weight system, Tonal, IR sauna, and peaceful workout areas for Pilates and yoga. The kitchen is fully updated with pro-grade Wolf/Subzero appliances and a butler prep area. An elegant bar and lounge has back-lit onyx stone accents leads into an expanded recreational area that has a full home theatre and professional Full Swing golf simulator.”
It seems as though the $215 million extension Chicago handed LaVine has been put to use.
