Bulls Rumors: Chicago signs Justin Lewis to two-way contract

According to multiple Chicago Bulls sources, the team signed Justin Lewis to a two-way contract for the season. While no announcement has been made, multiple media members have reported the move, including Cody Westerlund of 670 The Score and Will Gottlieb of CHGO.

Lewis was supposed to be on a two-way deal with the Bulls last season, but he suffered a season-ending injury before the year began. He remained around the organization while rehabbing and returned to the floor during summer league this offseason. Unfortunately, he was injured once again, appearing in just two of the team’s summer league contests.

Now, Lewis will have the opportunity to earn reps in the G League with the Windy City Bulls this season.

In his two summer league games for the Bulls, Lewis averaged 4.5 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist per game while shooting 50% from the field.

Lewis spent two years at Marquette before making the jump to the NBA. In his sophomore season, Lewis averaged 16.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per contest while shooting 44% from the floor and 34.9% from behind the three-point arc.

As things stand, the Bulls have some solid depth at the forward position, including Patrick Williams, Torrey Craig, Dalen Terry and Julian Phillips. It would be difficult for Lewis to break into that rotation, but he’ll be able to develop in the G League.

With his decent collegiate 3-point percentage, above-average rebounding, and abilities on the defensive end, it made sense for Chicago to bring him back on a two-way.
