The Chicago Bulls are heading into this offseason with many roster questions, including Zach LaVine’s pending free agency and the health of Lonzo Ball.
Ball had surgery in late-January to repair a small tear in his meniscus but was ruled out for the remainder of the season and playoffs after failure to ramp up his rehab due to soreness in his knee.
David Kaplan of NBCS Chicago and co-host of “Kap & J-Hood” on ESPN1000, said on Monday that the Bulls are having ‘serious concerns’ regarding the state of Lonzo’s knee.
“I am hearing that there are serious concerns within the front office of the Chicago Bulls that Lonzo Ball’s knee is NOT getting better,” Kaplan said. “They’ve been out for two weeks — he couldn’t play in that series. If they were starting the Eastern Conference Finals on Tuesday, he could not play.”
Ball said in exit interviews following the team’s first-round loss to the Milwaukee Bucks that he was ‘kind of at a standstill’ due to the continued pain in his knee and would be seeing a specialist to determine next steps.
“They are having real concerns of why he still has pain anytime he tries to ramps it up,” Kaplan added.
