Queensland's hopes of winning through to the Sheffield Shield final are narrowing despite a mini fightback with bat and ball against Tasmania.
The hosts stretched their lead to 291 at tea on day three in Hobart, having reached 3-112 in their second innings.
The Bulls were bowled out for 300 earlier, 179 runs short of Tasmania's first-innings total of 7-479 declared.
A weakened Queensland bowling attack fought back early, reducing the Tigers to 2-29 before Caleb Jewell (38) and Mac Wright (32 not out) steadied the ship.
Jordan Silk is the other batter at the crease on 16.
Without injured strike paceman Mark Steketee, Queensland have only Gurinder Sandhu and the inexperienced Liam Guthrie as their frontline bowlers.
Steketee earlier defied a hip injury to help Queensland's tail wag and bring the Shield final aspirants closer to their opponents.
Resuming at 6-180, the final three wickets added 109 with Steketee scoring 43 not out and Jack Sinfield 29.
The last recognised batter, Max Bryant, added 22 to his overnight score before being dismissed for 84 as Queensland conceded a 179-run deficit.
Queensland must win the match and hope fellow second-placed side Victoria lose to Western Australia in Perth to reach next week's final.
