Bukayo Saka has signed a new five-year contract which will make him Arsenal's best-paid player.

The 24-year-old's existing deal was set to expire at the end of next season, but the club have been relaxed over that situation and were confident that an agreement would be reached.

Saka has now put pen to paper on a bumper new deal which will see him earn in excess of £300,000-a-week, Standard Sport understands.

The winger has committed his future through to 2031, in what is a huge boost for Arsenal heading into the final months of the season.

Saka could be set for a fresh role in the run-in too, after being trialled in midfield against Wigan in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta has indicated that Saka could be used in a more central position in the upcoming fixtures, with Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard still on the sidelines.

"Bukayo, it's obviously one that we need to consider for the future," Arteta said.

"Really good, especially that the players respond to different types of roles in the manner that they are doing.

"I think he does [enjoy it] and everything that brings a challenge to him and he needs to prove something. I think it takes something from him and I think it's something positive."

Saka is the latest Arsenal star to sign a new deal at Arsenal, with Andrea Berta keen to tie down key first-team players.

Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly all agreed new long-term contracts last summer.

Max Dowman's future has also been secured. The teenager has signed a pre-contract agreement and will sign professional terms when he turns 17 in December.
