Buffalo Bills announce ‘remarkable improvement’ in Damar Hamlin’s cardiac arrest recovery

Buffalo Bills have released an overwhelmingly positive statement on Damar Hamlin’s recovery from a cardiac arrest.

The 24-year-old has made “remarkable improvement” in the past 24 hours while remaining in a coma after collapsing during Sunday night’s NFL game with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Thursday’s announcement indicated positive signs that Hamlin’s brain and lungs are recovering from the cardiac arrest.

A statement read: “Per the physicians caring for Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours.

“While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress.

“We are grateful for the love and support we have received.”

Buffalo’s game against Cincinnati was suspended when Hamlin collapsed shortly after a routine tackle.

It has been claimed that the Pittsburgh-native was resuscitated twice although these reports have been disputed by those close to Hamlin’s family.

The player’s marketing representative, Jordon Rooney, told the Associated Press on Wednesday that his recovery was going in “a positive directon”, adding: “We all remain optimistic.”
