Bud Light Controversy Sparks Campaign for NFL Legend’s New Beer Brand

NFL Hall-of-Famer Troy Aikman is capitalizing on the buzz surrounding the beer industry.

The legendary Dallas Cowboys quarterback posted a short video to social media on Tuesday promoting his beer brand, EIGHT, with a poignant jab at Bud Light and Miller Lite.

“Everyone’s talking about beer companies these days, but nobody’s talking about beer,” Aikman said in his video.

The football player turned Fox broadcaster then claimed that unlike other brands, EIGHT has “no agenda, no distractions.”

He also included more in his caption, headlining it "AUTHENTICITY MATTERS." He proceeded by saying other brands are taking "shortcuts to gain consumers."

Aikman is referencing the controversy surrounding Anheuser-Busch’s (BUDFF ) Bud Light which has faced backlash from anti-LGBTQ+ ideologists for hiring transgender TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney as a spokesperson.

Molson Coors’ (TAP.A) Miller Lite was then put on blast after an ad for Women’s History Month in March resurfaced in mid-May.

Aikman’s EIGHT beer, which is named after his iconic jersey number, is positioned as a light beer, making Bud Light and Miller Lite two direct competitors. However, EIGHT is currently only available in Texas.

His promotion of EIGHT has generated nearly 750,000 views on Twitter and 200,000 views on Instagram as of this writing.
