Well-known football commentator and lifelong Nottingham Forest fan Darren Fletcher was rushed to hospital after he suffered an anaphylactic shock. The lead BT Sport commentator, who's also known for his work on BBC Radio 5 Live airwaves, and who lives locally, was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in the early hours of Wednesday morning (February 1) because he struggled to breathe.
Writing on Twitter, he thanked the medical team at the hospital and said he hoped to return home later that day. He wrote: "Had anaphylactic shock in the early hours which was quite scary - it was a reaction to something.
"Struggled to breathe and stuff but the staff at the QMC have been brilliant. The adrenaline was interesting! Hoping to be home later." Anaphylactic shock is a potentially life-threatening allergic reaction.

Fletcher, 50, thanked messages of support he received from friends, sports fans, journalists and ex footballers. Former Forest and Arsenal striker player Kevin Campbell said: "Get well and stay safe Fletch! Absolutely fantastic people at the QMC too."
Former Southampton fullback Francis Benali added: "Hope you’re feeling much better Fletch!" Fletcher also received messages from The Times' Chief Football Writer Henry Winter and The Athletic's Daniel Taylor, the latter of the two also a passionate Forest supporter.
Responding to his well wishes, Fletcher added: "Thanks for the messages - they’ve perked me up no end and lots have made me laugh. It’s very much appreciated x"
Fletcher was previously a director at Notts County, working closely with former Magpies owner Alan Hardy, and has worked for BT Sport since 2013.
