BT customers are braced for hikes in their bills as inflation continues to soar. Increases in energy bills, fuel, food and other bills are among the barrage of cost rises households are being crippled with.
TV and broadband providers are also raising monthly prices as inflation rises to 9%. One BT customer who does not wish to be named said their bill for a Fibre 2 package had gone from £29.99 to £34.38 - an increase of 9 per cent. Other companies, including Sky and Virgin are also increasing the payments for their package deals.
The Manchester Evening News reports that Sky has increased their prices of some of its packages and says that on average the increase will be around £3.60 a month, which works out at £43 a year. The impact of their changes vary depending on what package customers pay for and how many Sky services they use.

BT has said all of its customers were notified of price rises between February and March, and were either notified by post, email or text depending on their communication preferences. The telecoms company has also said that their average customer will see a monthly increase of £3.50 following the CPI rise earlier this year.
BT said their prices change annually, so it is unlikely that any further price hikes will be added again this year. However, many customers are now already paying a higher price for their broadband package than before.
