BSF raises drone intrusion issue with Pak Rangers

DERA BABA NANAK (GURDASPUR): A spike in drone intrusion in the Gurdaspur sector of Punjab forced the Border Security Force (BSF) to invite counterparts of Pakistan Rangers for a meeting on Thursday to report the use of unmanned aerial vehicles for dropping arms and drugs.

Gurdaspur sector BSF DIG Prabhakar Joshi brought this drone activity to the notice of Pakistan Rangers' brigadier Fahad Ayub. This is the first DIG-level meeting in the sector since the outbreak of coronavirus in 2019. The spot was on the Indian side of the Kartarpur Corridor.

DIG Joshi said: "The BSF asked Pakistan Rangers to check the smugglers. After all, the drones flying past their posts, too. The side where the smuggling activity starts has a responsibility to stop it."

On the other hand, the Pakistan side reportedly took up the issue of new defense structures and farm fires on the Indian side with the BSF.
