Bryson DeChambeau confirms he joined LIV Golf for north of $125 million

Despite committing to the PGA Tour in February and claiming as recently as the Memorial in May that “I personally don’t think that at this point in time I’m in a place in my career where I can risk things like that,” Bryson DeChambeau jumped to LIV Golf and competed last week in the Portland Series Invitational.

The upstart league finally made an offer that DeChambeau couldn’t refuse.

Just how much he got from the Saudi-backed league’s recent spending spree, he’s still not saying, but he shed some light on the dollars involved that made him flip-flop after saying he wanted to continue to play against “the best in the world” of which the top 16 in the Official World Golf Ranking still remain on the PGA Tour.

While appearing on the Country Club Adjacent podcast, DeChambeau confirmed that he signed a contract for the next 4 1/2 years through the 2026 season. When the four comedian hosts of the podcast shifted to the topic of money and noted the 2020 U.S. Open champ had “a $125-million smile,” DeChambeau corrected them, saying “that’s a little low.”

“I’m not gonna say the details, I mean for what’s reported it’s somewhat close,” DeChambeau said. “It’s a four-and-a-half-year deal, I can definitely tell you that and a lot of it was upfront, which is great.”

DeChambeau also noted he didn’t just stick the bundles of cash under his bed or into the bank to grow. He has big plans.

“What’s cool about it, though, is that I’ve already put it in places that make sense, whether it’s my foundation or real estate, being able to build a multi-sport complex or taking care of my family, taking care of what we’ve got going on with our content creation with Regecy, numerous other things, too.”

DeChambeau finished in 10th place in the 48-man field at Pumpkin Ridge and earned $560,000 for shooting 2-under in the 54-hole competition.
