It’s far too early to give up on Bryce Young.
Bleacher Report’s David Kenyon recently named each team’s most promising building block heading into the 2024 campaign. He picks out Young for the Carolina Panthers, who may be setting up their second-year quarterback for a sound sophomore season:
Look, his rookie year was a disaster. I’m not arguing that. Bryce Young was the No. 1 overall pick for many good reasons, though, and a new coaching staff with an improved receiving corps has created a more encouraging situation in 2024. Young must be far better this season, but it’s much too early to give up on him.
Yeah, Kenyon obviously isn’t kidding about that rookie year.
Over 16 games, Young averaged just 179.8 passing yards with 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. And of those 16 games, he only recorded two outings of at least two passing scores and one of at least 250 passing yards.
But with free-agent signees Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis fortifying the interior line, wideouts Diontae Johnson and Xavier Legette entering the fold and new head coach/quarterback whisperer Dave Canales already whispering, 2024 may see a lot more building from Young and the Panthers.
