Ending the game with a loss is not the narrative you want your breakout game to be ridden on but it would be tough to call it anything less for the number one overall pick and Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young who dominated the Green Bay Packers all afternoon on Christmas Eve.
It felt like for the first time this season Young saw plenty of protection from his offensive line, which gave enough time for his receivers to separate, and for Young to nail his targets. Young ended the day shredding the Green Bay secondary for 312 yards, two touchdowns, and 23/36 completions for a quarterback rating of 110.0. Young made big throws all afternoon long and almost completed a miraculous comeback late into the fourth quarter.

This was really the most consistent we have seen Young despite having flashes against Miami, Houston, and Atlanta. Young looked calm and collected within the pocket despite early-season pressure, and he was able to bring his patented playmaking ability onto the field. Panthers’ fans have to be excited with what they saw after a season mostly filled with doom and gloom. Knowing your first overall pick isn’t an outright bust is the best Christmas present any fan could ask for.
