As a rookie in 2023, Bryce Young entered an impossible situation with the Carolina Panthers. Carolina had the NFL’s roster and was essentially in flux every week. There was no stability whatsoever. Young clearly felt the brunt of this mix, turning in a season that, for now, has the former No. 1 overall on track toward being known as a “bust.”
The 2024 campaign is supposed to act like something of a rebound for Young. It’s a chance for him to show some positive traction and momentum for the future as the Panthers continue to rebuild in earnest.
In the Panthers’ Week 1 opener against the New Orleans Saints, Young started in the worst possible way.
He really threw an awful pick on his first pass of the year, as the Panthers eventually found themselves trailing 17-0 at the end of the first quarter:

Look, it’s just the first possession. It doesn’t really mean anything in the grand scheme of things other than Young continuing to struggle. But it is also a sign that he kind of picked up where he left off, and that’s a terrible omen for the Panthers if he doesn’t get it together.
