Bryan Gil makes Sevilla loan claim as he discusses Tottenham, Antonio Conte and message to agent

Bryan Gil has admitted that he does not want the current season to come to an end. Following such a frustrating first part of the campaign where he missed out on a Tottenham summer exit and had to settle for a bit-part role in north London as a result, the Spain Under-21 star has flourished since returning to former club Sevilla on loan.

Making nine appearances for the La Liga side, including last weekend when he teed up former Tottenham ace Erik Lamela for the winner against Almeria, the 22-year-old is now getting the regular football he craves to help aid his development. As his future will once again be a major talking point come the summer, Gil has stated that he does not want the end of the season to come and that he is fully focused on helping Sevilla achieve their objectives at present.

"I think summer is coming and the season is over. I don’t want it to come [to an end]. Our heads are too busy with the situation to think about summer,” Gil outlined when speaking on Sevilla FC TV’s A Balón Parado.

He added: "It doesn’t matter if I earn more or less, that my parents do not lack anything is the first thing. I’ve always told my agent that I always want to play, no matter where, if it’s at Sevilla then much better, when you feel important is when you play. In the elite everyone has talent, but confidence is what gives you the extra point.”

Gil was also quizzed on a number of other subjects, including his move to N17, learning from Antonio Conte despite a lack of minutes and why there was a late change regarding his move to Valencia in the summer.

"It changed my life," said the Spaniard on his move to Tottenham. "I wanted to try myself in the Premier League and although Conte likes more physical players, I learned a lot from him."

On his move to Valencia collapsing, he revealed: "In the summer I was close to going to Valencia. From there, they let me go now (…) It was all very fast, although I told my representative that until I signed, I was not going to believe it after what happened in summer (with those at Mestalla).

"In summer it was, I don’t know, 24 hours, the radical change, from a yes to a no."

Departing Sevilla for Tottenham in the summer of 2021 in a deal that saw Lamela head the other way, Gil is now a teammate of the Argentine after returning to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. The pair have hit it off, with the young winger admitting he is very close to 31-year-old.

"I haven't quite assimilated, for example, playing with Jesus Navas," he said. "In the locker room I'm close to [Marcus] Acuna, Oliver [Torres], [Gonzalo] Montiel and Lamela. I've tried the mate and I don't dislike it."
