Bryan Cranston rebuilt a $2.5M beach bungalow into a net-zero home, sold it for $5.45M

In 2007, actor Bryan Cranston, who is best know for playing Walter White in hit TV series 'Breaking Bad', purchased a modest beach bungalow in Venice, California, for $2.5 million, drawn by the location just steps from the sand. Rather than simply renovating the existing structure, he tore it down and rebuilt it as a 2,450-square-foot net-zero energy home designed to produce as much energy as it consumes. Fourteen years later, in 2021, he sold the property for $5.45 million, reflecting both the premium for beachfront land in Venice and the added value of a high-performance, eco-friendly residence, according to Realtor.com and a PR Newswire listing announcement.
