Fans of Canadian rocker Bryan Adams have been hit by news of the sudden cancelled of his upcoming show in Durham.
The star had been due to play the Emirates Riverside cricket ground in Chester-le-Street on July 5 but the concert - a stop-off from his So Happy It Hurts tour - has now been cancelled due to "unforeseen circumstances". For many local fans of the Everything I Do (I Do It For You) and Summer of '69 hit-maker, the announcement came via Ticketmaster with an apology for disappointment caused.
The ticket sales company said it has been told by the event organisers that the July 5 show has been cancelled and it shared the statement from them along with details of refunds - plus an invitation to take up a special offer to see Bryan Adams at his next night's show at Floors Castle - which is at Kelso, in south east Scotland - instead. That's about 82 miles from Chester-le-Street.

The statement to ticket-holders says: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Bryan Adams show at the Riverside Durham has been cancelled. Refunds will be processed automatically by your point of purchase."
It adds that a special two-for-one rate is on offer for the Floors Castle concert on July 6, which is available to all those who had booked for the Durham gig.
Ticketmaster customers were told they would receive an automatic refund. Anyone who has a new bank card since making their booking can find information here on how to proceed and it added: "We're sorry for any disappointment caused."
Bryan Adams is always a huge favourite with fans in the region, with tens of thousands of people regularly packing out his gigs here over the years. Just in May his So Happy It Hurts tour brought him back in Newcastle where he wowed the crowd - and our reviewer - at the Utilita Arena.
News of the cancellation follows that of singing legend Dionne Warwick who abruptly pulled out of her concert in Newcastle this week. The Durham County Cricket Club meanwhile will soon welcome another music star to its ground when Diana Ross takes to the stage there on June 29.
