Bruno Saltor provides Chelsea future update after Graham Potter sacked by Todd Boehly

Chelsea have sacked Graham Potter and are on the search for a new permanent manager for the second time this season. Todd Boehly appointed Potter as Thomas Tuchel's successor six months ago but after just 12 wins in 32 games, the former Brighton boss has now been dismissed from his role.

Potter's understudy, Bruno Saltor, is set to take charge of the Premier League clash against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on tonight. The Spaniard has hinted that he may select a similar team to that which lost 2-0 against Aston Villa on Sunday evening - a result that brought Potter's tenure as manager to an end.

In his pre-Liverpool press conference, Bruno said: "I just spoke to Graham five minutes ago. Obviously it has been a difficult 24 hours for all of us, the staff and families and now we have to live with the situation."

Julian Nagelsmann is a serious contender to replace Potter at Stamford Bridge but the process of appointing a new manager will not be rushed, football.london understands. The likes of Zinedine Zidane, Luis Enrique and Mauricio Pochettino have all been rumoured with a move to west London, but for now Bruno will be in the dugout for the foreseeable future.

The Spaniard's loyalty to Potter has been tested in the past 48 hours with his future at the club still uncertain. When asked if he would stay at Chelsea under a new manager, Saltor replied: "It's not a question I can answer right now.

"I will focus on day by day here. Obviously as you know it is a difficult question to answer, I'm going to focus on today, tomorrow but I have amazing relationship with and pure admiration for Graham [Potter].

"We will assess later. My ambition is to improve every day and try to show who I am and be myself. That is what I'm going to try to do in the next few days."
