Bruno Fernandes sends Manchester United Champions League message amid top-four battle

Bruno Fernandes has outlined the importance of Manchester United qualifying for the Champions League as the Reds remain in the thick of a fight for top-four.

As it stands, United sit in the all-important fourth spot going into the latest round of Premier League fixtures. Tottenham's defeat at Turf Moor saw them lose ground whilst Arsenal's last-gasp winner against Wolves moved them to within a point of Ralf Rangnick's side.

The German has helped steer the Reds back on course after their mid-season slump spelt the end of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's time at the club but despite their current position question marks remain over whether they will be in the hat for the elite European competition come May.

But for Fernandes, he has highlighted the impact of the three-time Champions League winners not competing in the tournament.

He told DAZN : "I think we are at the level of the others and that we can do better than we are doing.

"I want to fight to be first and I think that a club like this has to fight to be up there.

"This club cannot stay out of the Champions League.

"I'm fine, I'm having a regular season. Obviously, I think I can still do more. I always ask for more of myself. I always want to do more.

"My goals are to help the team, get into the top four and go to the end in the Champions League.

"Personally, improve my numbers, but the main thing is to help the team achieve its goals."
