Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has sent a classy message to Brandon Williams after the young full-back recovered from injury to feature during the club's friendly match against Cadiz.
Williams returned to Old Trafford this season following a spell on loan with Norwich in the Championship, as the 22-year-old looked to show Erik ten Hag how much he had developed as a footballer during his time away from the club. Many had hoped he might challenge Diogo Dalot at right-back, but the youngster unfortunately missed the entirety of United's pre-season in Thailand and Australia due to injury.
Fitness issues have hampered the defender's progress this season, and despite being close to a return before the World Cup break, Williams was still absent from the matchday squad for the Reds' last game before the World Cup, a 2-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Williams has since managed to shake off his recent injury woes, allowing Ten Hag to include him in the squad that travelled to Spain for a warm-weather training camp. The Dutchman has taken 29 players out to Andalusia for two friendlies against La Liga sides Cadiz and Real Betis.
Williams was named in the starting XI for the 4-2 defeat to Cadiz, yet despite the score, the defender was thrilled to be back out on the pitch after a long spell away. Taking to social media after the game, the full-back said: "After a long 7 months of being injured, working extremely hard to get back on the pitch. I’m finally back doing what I love to do. 45 minutes in the tank now time to keep working hard to get back to 100%."
Fernandes then showed his class, as he took time out of his World Cup preparations with Portugal to send a warm message to Williams on Instagram after his return from injury.
