Bruno Fernandes breaks silence on Christian Eriksen to Manchester United transfer

Bruno Fernandes has told Christian Eriksen he is looking forward to playing with and learning from him after Manchester United signed the Danish midfielder on a free transfer.

Eriksen has signed a three-year deal at Old Trafford and will link up with his new teammates when they return to Carrington next week, having not travelled to Australia for the club's pre-season tour.

The 30-year-old can offer a versatile option in midfield, either playing alongside Fernandes or offering competition for the Portuguese playmaker.

He brings plenty of experience to the club, having played for Tottenham and Inter Milan, and his comeback with Brentford from the cardiac arrest he suffered at the European Championship last year was one of the stories of the season.

Fernandes believes the addition of Eriksen and £56million centre-back Lisandro Martinez are good signings for the club and he is looking forward to linking up with his fellow creative midfielder.

"I always learn from players who play similar positions as me, so I think Christian has been an amazing player in the past and even last season when he played for Brentford, he was amazing for them and I think he's such a good quality player for us," he said.

"I'm looking forward to playing alongside him because I think the best players make you play better, make you improve, so I'm looking forward to learn from him and to help him any way I can."

Fernandes has been impressive on the club's pre-season tour, starting all three friendlies against Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace, and Erik ten Hag's influence on the side is already becoming clear.

“We are following the work the coach is doing with us, we have to follow his ideas, and I think everyone is doing that," he said.

"The results are there, obviously still some things to improve, there will always be something to improve, but I think at the moment the coaching is exactly what we are doing, but we will always have something to improve and we want to improve too, because we know that the season will be much tougher than these matches."
