Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike files 990 cases after plastic ban from July 1

BENGALURU: BBMP filed 990 cases after the plastic ban came into effect on July 1. The fine collected was Rs 5,97,800.

The urban local body, which is the implementing authority of the ban, seized 1380.8 kg of single-use plastic from retail shops, hotels, plastic production companies and other establishments. Junior health supervisors and team of marshals are making surprise visits and cracking down on use of plastic. Data shared by BBMP show the highest number of ban violations (255) was recorded in west zone, while east saw 203 and Dasarahalli the lowest number of cases.
