Bruce Springsteen is to tour Britain next year with four shows, including Villa Park and Hyde Park.
The Boss and his E Street Band are the first headliners announced for BST 2023 in London and will play on July 6 and July 8.
Last month, Bruce, 72, surprised fans with an appearance during Sir Paul McCartney ’s Glastonbury set.
The US rocker wished Sir Paul a happy 80th birthday before they played Glory Days and I Wanna Be Your Man. Tickets for the London gigs go on sale on July 21 at 9am.
Along with the confirmed show at Villa Park, Birmingham on June 16 will be another at Murrayfield, Edinburgh, on May 30. Dublin, Paris and Barcelona are also lined up. The gigs will be Bruce’s first full live shows since 2017.
The BST show will be the first time he has been back to the Royal Park since 2012 when then-promoters Live Nation pulled the plug on Bruce and Sir Paul, who was on stage for a duet, after he went past his curfew.
Steve Van Zandt, one of the guitarists, then vented his fury at a “police state” and the then London mayor, Boris Johnson, criticised “an excessively efficacious decision”, saying the band should have been allowed to “jam in the name of the Lord”.
The new show features a different promoter, AEG. A source said: “Noone has ever pulled the plug on any of the BST shows and it’s not going to happen now. There will be plenty of time for Bruce to play a full set.”
He began his stellar career in the early 1970s, with his debut solo album Greetings From Asbury Park NJ, and has racked up album sales of more than 150 million worldwide. He has won 20 Grammy awards.
