Bruce Springsteen and Shane McGowan shared a "beautiful moment" as the two musical legends came together ahead of Springsteen's three nights playing in the RDS arena.
The Pogues lead singer welcomed the 73-year-old American icon into his home this Wednesday, in what McGowan's wife Victoria Mary labelled as an "amazing honour" and a "beautiful experience."
Springsteen, with a highly decorated career spanning six decades, is set to play the RDS arena in Dublin this Friday, Sunday and Monday nights, seven years on from his last performance in the capital.
The Boss previously played in the D4 venue 11 times and has spoken often of his fondness for the Emerald Isle.
Posting the image of McGowan and Springsteen together, Mrs McGowan said: "What an amazing honour and a beautiful experience to get a visit from The Boss!!!"
Following a hospitalisation in December last, The Pogues frontman confirmed that he had encephalitis, a rare inflammation of the brain, usually caused by infection. The 65-year-old singer-songwriter has been using a wheelchair since breaking his pelvis in 2015.
Bruce previously told Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Show two years ago that he felt in 200 years most music will be forgotten, however he believes the music of Shane McGowan will continue to live on and be sung.
He added that McGowan is a "master" and that he has had a deep admiration for the work of The Pogues since working with them. He also praised his Irish fans live on air.
On the Twitter post, Mrs McGowan stated: "Such a truly wonderful man and a total genius!"
A commenter wrote in praise: "Legends! So happy they could spend some time together. The happiest post I’ll see all week."
