Bruce Irvin on Seahawks being underdogs vs. Buccaneers: ‘We love it’

The Seahawks have been underdogs for most of their games this season. It wasn’t until Week 8 against the Giants that they finally started getting some respect from the oddsmakers. And yet, last week they were once again considered underdogs against the Cardinals, who they just beat by 10 points for the second time this season. For an encore, Seattle is once again not favored for this week’s matchup in Munich against the Buccaneers.

According to Tipico Sportsbook, the Bucs are favored by 1.5 points. However, if you haven’t figured it out by now these Seahawks kind of like being the underdogs. Bruce Irvin says they love it.

While Irvin’s arrival a few weeks ago can’t be credited with everything that’s gone right during this four-game winning streak, it doesn’t feel like a total coincidence, either. Despite a couple mistakes on Arizona’s first drive on Sunday, Seattle’s defense has done an absolute 180 since an awful start and now looks like a true top-10 unit. Some numbers back that up, as well.

As for the Bucs, they’re 4-5 and are considered one of the biggest disapppointments in the NFL this year. Still, by now we’ve learned never to count out Tom Brady, who just became the first player ever with 100,000 career passing yards and led Tampa on his 55th game-winning drive, passing Peyton Manning for the most all time.

If the playoffs were to begin today, Seattle would hold the third seed in the NFC and Tampa would be fourth. Expect a postseason type atmosphere.
