The widow of Sir Bruce Forsyth has explained why she has turned down offers to make a biopic about the late entertainer’s life.
His long career in showbusiness began when he was aged just 14 and spanned 75 years.
During that time, he fronted TV shows including The Generation Game, Play Your Cards Right, The Price Is Right, You Bet, and Strictly Come Dancing. Famed for his catch phrase “Nice to see you, to see you, Nice!” died in 2017 aged 89.
Lady Wilnelia Merced – who was his third wife – has said that although she has been approached by production companies about adapting his life for the big screen, it hasn’t felt right to her.
She explained: “We have had a few approaches from film production companies about doing a biopic about Bruce’s life, but I’ve turned them down as I don’t think it’s the right time.
The 65-year-old former Puerto Rican Miss World – who inherited almost all of his £11.5 million fortune – hasn’t ruled out the idea completely however, adding to the Daily Mail: “Maybe in the future we’ll do it, as Bruce lived such an incredible life.”
In the meantime, his legacy continues to be honured annually by the National Television Awards Show who renamed their entertainment prize following his death.
