Browns Vs Eagles: Some highlights from the backups

The Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles face off in the second preseason game of the year for both teams. After two shared practices this week, neither team is playing their top players but a game still happened.

For the Browns, four players were ruled out due to injuries.

A lot of interesting storylines for the home team despite not playing their top guys. Who will be the backup quarterback to Jacoby Brissett? Who will make the team at receiver and tight end? Which young guy will join the team’s great defense?

With all that in mind, we will keep track of highlights for you right here. Who makes an explosive play on either side of the ball?

Dobbs Long Run Sets Up His Touchdown

A fun run by the Browns starter for the day that then led to his own touchdown run:

York Crushes Field Goal

A key addition this offseason is rookie Cade York who hit his first field goal at FirstEnergy Stadium. The 50-yarder was good and, based on this video, would have been good from much further:

Perfect Pitch and Catch from Dobbs to Harley

Not only has Dobbs shown off his running ability but he has thrown some very good passes during the second preseason game. Here is a great throw to Mike Harley Jr. who ran a very good route and sat down in the right spot:

OL and RB John Kelly Dominates for TD

The depth that Cleveland has at running back is overwhelming. It helps that the zone blocking scheme that they run and great offensive line coaching from Bill Callahan makes things easy for everyone running the ball.

John Kelly Jr. joins the fun on the first drive after halftime with four carries for 36 yards and this touchdown:

Browns take the lead early in the second half, 20-14.

Rosen to Wims

Dobbs got the first-half snaps and was surprisingly brought back out for the first drive of the second half. Josh Rosen took over and had this long completion on his first drive with WR Javon Wims making a great catch:

Weaver Gets a Sack

Potentially fighting for his roster life, DE Curtis Weaver got back-to-back pressures on the quarterback late in the game. Unfortunately, the second one did not lead to a sack but did force a fourth down. The first one gave Weaver a sack to his credit:
