Browns starting fifth QB of the season on pseudo-bye week vs. Bengals

As the Cleveland Browns get set to take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, they will start quarterback Jeff Driskel.

With their playoff spot already locked up, and with the fifth seed secured, the Browns are set to rest the majority of their starters on Sunday. This includes quarterback Joe Flacco, who is on a torrid pace with the Browns, and who they must protect for the playoffs.

Driskel, who was just signed off of the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad, actually got his NFL career underway with the Bengals. He has started a total of 11 games over his six-year career, including five with the Bengals as a rookie in 2018.

P.J. Walker, who has started three games for the Browns this season, will once again serve as the backup with Dorian Thompson-Robinson on Injured Reserve. If anything, this is an indication that Cleveland may not feel comfortable remaining one injury away from putting Walker back under center.

Driskel will become the fifth different starting quarterback to start for the Browns this season. Can head coach Kevin Stefanski set a record as the first coach to win with five different quarterbacks in the same season and make the playoffs?
