The Cleveland Browns have signed linebacker Nathaniel Watson to the active roster off of their practice squad after clearing a roster spot on Tuesday.
Many had speculated that perhaps running back Nick Chubb was ready to go sooner rather than later after having his 21-day practice window opened up, but it turns out that the release of Gary Brightwell may have just been an indication that Pierre Strong Jr. is set to return to action this week against the Washington Commanders.
Instead, the Browns have brought back their 2024 NFL draft sixth round pick Nathaniel Watson, who was waived two weeks ago before landing back on the practice squad. Watson has been a special teams performer when he is on the field, and now with Jordan Hicks listed as day-to-day, the Browns add another linebacker back to the active roster.
This will not be the last roster move the Browns make this week as now another practice squad slot has been created by the signing of Watson. Look for Brightwell to be brought back to the practice squad as a result.
