Just like that, the first week of NFL free agency is over, and the Cleveland Browns were active in the market. However, the team’s best move of the week might have been hiring veteran coach Mike Vrabel.
Having someone who has had so much success in the NFL as both a player and a coach on your staff as a consultant is a real positive move to help the team take the next step.
Most of the moves on the defensive side have been retaining their best talent from a great unit last year. Being able to retain top talent is something good teams do, and the Browns did that.
The team upgraded on the defensive line, trading out Jordan Elliott for Quinton Jefferson, a more proven and productive pass rusher. Andrew Berry continues prioritizing strong special teams units, bringing back their punter and signing special teams ace Tony Brown.
