As the Cleveland Browns get set to take on the New Orleans Saints, quarterback Jameis Winston will get the start against his former team.
Despite a rocky showing against the Los Angeles Chargers before the bye week, the Browns are sticking with their backup quarterback. There have been some calls to see Dorian Thompson-Robinson take the field as the Browns sit at 2-7 to see what they have in their second-year quarterback as they enter an evaluation period of their season.
However, the Browns are going with the quarterback who is going to give them the best chance to win and to evaluate the other players around him.
Winston spent four seasons with the Saints from 2020-2023 before signing with the Browns this offseason. During his four years in New Orleans, Winston started a total of 10 games, going 6-4 in those games. He threw for over 2,300 yards and 20 touchdowns with 11 interceptions in that span.
Can he right the ship against his former team on Sunday?
