There have been rumors all offseason that the Cleveland Browns could be a potential landing spot for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. A reunion with former teammate Deshaun Watson seemed like it could be on the table though it didn’t seem like the odds were high.
In her latest article, Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot reported that a reunion is unlikely at this time.
“With Hopkins kicking off his free agent tour Sunday with the Titans, the Browns have not yet scheduled a visit with the five-time Pro Bowler, and might not do so until his market cools considerably.”
The Browns have made several moves to improve the wide receiver room and clearly, they feel like they have a great group. It’s hard to argue that Hopkins wouldn’t make the team better but there isn’t a need for another large contract on offense and not at that position.
Fans will have to wait to see if anything changes but if Cleveland is truly satisfied with the talent that they currently have under contract, they don’t have the need to justify a big contract for Hopkins anyway.
