While we continue to wait for the return of Cleveland Browns football, with training camp set to return this month, we sift through pieces where those in brown and orange are highlighted. And in today’s news, safety Grant Delpit has received some recognition from NFL executives and coaches around the league.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler has been polling those around the league to get their feedback on who the best players are around the league. They resoundingly voted defensive end Myles Garrett as the best pass rusher in football, and now the fifth-year safety makes an appearance.
While Delpit was not named as a top 10 safety by NFL executives and personnel, he did make an appearance on the honorable mentions list for receiving votes during Fowler’s poll.
Delpit is coming off of his best season with the Browns, a season in which he was named a Pro Bowl alternate. Not only that, but he earned himself a new contract extension from the Browns, who gave him a new three-year deal worth up to $36 million.
As the NFL’s best defense looks to continue its dominance in 2024, the return of a healthy Delpit will be key for their success. If he does, he can continue to climb up lists like this.
