Browns bring back QB after cutting him on Monday

The Cleveland Browns have re-signed quarterback Bailey Zappe after cutting him on Monday night.

The release of Zappe, who has been their emergency third quarterback since the injury to Deshaun Watson, cleared room for the Browns to sign defensive tackle Jowon Briggs to the active roster. The Browns now bring Zappe back but have not announced any subsequent roster move as of yet.

A former fourth round pick of the New England Patriots, Zappe has bounced around a bit since being waived this summer. He was then signed to the practice squad of the Kansas City Chiefs before the Browns signed him to their active roster off of their practice squad after the injury to Watson.

He now winds up back in Cleveland for the time being.

Expect Zappe to continue to be listed as a gameday inactive, but have his pads ready to go as the emergency third quarterback.
