A beloved bakery in Broughty Ferry is closing its shop after nine years - to the disappointment of locals.
Rough and Fraser says no jobs will be lost as a result of the closure of its Brook Street branch, which it blamed on an expiring lease agreement "outwith our control". It has promised to relocate the staff from its Ferry shop to its other locations in Dundee on Kinghorne Road beside the Law and Provost Road in Coldside.
It announced the news on its official Facebook page earlier on Monday, prompting an outpouring of well-wishing from regular customers. The company has vowed to return to the Ferry as soon as possible.
A statement posted by the company read: "We are sorry to be posting this - however we are very sadly closing our shop in Broughty Ferry for reasons outwith our control.
"We would like to thank you all for your valued custom over the last nine years.
"We are actively looking for another premises in the Ferry and hope to be open again very soon.
"As soon as we have an official date for closing we will put signs up in the shop and update on Facebook.
"Our shop staff will being staying on in other shops for the time being but will hopefully be back to Broughty Ferry in the near future."
One fan commented: "Sad news, love your butteries."
Another said: "That's a shame - you're such a reputable bakery throughout the city."
