A patient hospitalized in the Binghamton area is being evaluated for possible measles, and the Broome County Health Department is waiting on state laboratory results before it can say whether the case is real. The county said a local hospital reported the suspected case on Sept. 26 and sent samples to the New York State Department of Health's Wadsworth Laboratory for confirmation testing.
The patient does not live in Broome County and came to a local hospital for treatment, according to the county's release. Officials have not named the hospital or released exposure dates or locations. They said the risk to the public is currently low, especially for people who are fully vaccinated, WBNG reported.
