Brooks Koepka certainly got his fans talking after uploading a teasing social media post amid the chaos from the maiden rebel Saudi tour event in St Albans this week.
The LIV Golf Invitational Series is playing host to its first event at The Centurion Club currently, and all the sporting headlines have been dominated by the controversial breakaway circuit this week.
A civil war has broken out within golf, with the PGA Tour banning all current players who have jumped ship to the rebel tour, before LIV Golf responded and took aim at the American circuit's 'vindictive' stance. Dustin Johnson shocked the sporting world by resigning from the PGA Tour, while Bryson DeChambeau has been confirmed to play in the second Saudi event in Portland at the end of June. The likes of Patrick Reed and Rickie Fowler are reportedly set to follow.
Many on the PGA Tour, including Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas, have hit out at the new venture and former world No 1 and four-time major champion Koepka has now amusingly decided to get involved.
The American star, who has won the PGA Championship and US Open twice each, sent fans into a frenzy on Twitter by posting three eye emojis just as the maiden event in St Albans was about to get underway.
Many were left stumped by what the post was referring to, with some believing he may be next to jump ship. Twitter user @RDeCards posted: "Don't do it, man. That wedding was perfect. How would $100 mill have made it better? Great life and still have your integrity."
Pauld77 wrote: "Remember your time on the challenge tour brooks..? You had a great learning experience and it helped you become the player/person you are today. If LIV really gets going it kills the challenge tour and the next generation of golfers won’t have the same opportunity. You own them."
Furthermore, @debcurtis60 replied: "DON'T GO TO THE OTHER SIDE BROOKS! You have a lot of majors left in you," while another user @MikeLJamess asked the question: "How much they offering the 4-time major winner????"
But to the relief of many golf fans around the world, Koepka was just messing, following up that tweet with another post from ESPN hailing New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley. He captioned the post: "oops, my bad I forgot the link."
Koepka is sticking to his PGA Tour allegiances right now, and staying out of any trouble that may come his way while some of his rivals find themselves in an awkward position.
On Thursday afternoon, the PGA Tour announced that Johnson and Co had been suspended for 'turning their backs' on the circuit.
"These players have made their choice for their own financial-based reasons," said PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan in a statement. "But they can't demand the same PGA TOUR membership benefits, considerations, opportunities and platform as you.
"That expectation disrespects you, our fans and our partners. You have made a different choice, which is to abide by the Tournament Regulations you agreed to when you accomplished the dream of earning a PGA TOUR card and -- more importantly -- to compete as part of the preeminent organization in the world of professional golf."
