Brooklyn Family Demands Release of Haitian Father Sent to Mississippi After ICE Arrest at His Home

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - AUGUST 10: Students, activists and area politicians gather in Corona, Queens, a neighborhood with a significant immigrant population, to denounce the presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arresting people in the area on August 10, 2026, in New York City. ICE actions have increased throughout New York City in recent months as the Trump administration continues to press for a surge in arrests in neighborhoods throughout the country with high numbers of immigrants. A Haitian father arrested by federal immigration agents at his Brooklyn home has been transferred to a detention facility in Mississippi, more than 1,000 miles from his wife and young daughter, as neighbors and elected officials demand his release, according to a report by The Haitian Times.

Roberto Lamour was detained on October 3 at his apartment on Lenox Road in Flatbush. Residents allege that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents identified themselves as New York Police Department officers to enter the building and his apartment.
