Brooklyn Beckham 'tells parents David and Victoria to only contact him via lawyers' in dramatic family rift escalation

Brooklyn Beckham has reportedly taken the step of issuing his parents with a cease and desist letter, instructing them to contact him only through lawyers.

The 26-year-old is said to have formally told Sir David and Victoria Beckham that all future communication must be handled via legal representatives, marking a sharp escalation in the family rift that has played out for much of the past year.

The move is said to be part of Brooklyn’s efforts to create distance from his parents following months of tension.

He is understood to have blocked his mother on social media after she liked a video he posted on Instagram, an action reportedly seen as breaching the terms of the letter.

The notice is also said to ask that his parents refrain from tagging him in online posts.

Brooklyn, the eldest of the Beckham children, has been absent from a number of major family moments, most notably Sir David’s recent 50th birthday celebrations, which were attended by his younger brothers Romeo and Cruz. He and his wife, Nicola Peltz, were not present at any of the events.

Speculation about the origins of the feud has circulated for months, with some suggesting it dates back to the couple’s wedding in 2022, when Nicola chose not to wear a gown designed by Victoria. Though none of these claims have been publicly addressed by the family.

The letter is said to represent Brooklyn’s last formal contact with his parents.

A source told The Sun: “Truly, people do not know the full facts of this heart-breaking tale, and think Brooklyn was just being truculent when he blocked his parents.

“The reality is that he issued them with a letter at the end of last summer, asking for any correspondence to go via lawyers only, and wanted to try and make amends privately, not publicly.”

The same source claimed Brooklyn had grown frustrated that attempts to reach him were being made through social media rather than direct, private communication.

By contrast, his parents are said to be “utterly bemused and devastated” by the situation, believing they were signalling that “the door is always open and that they still care.”

“But it is clear,” the insider added, “if there is going to be any reconciliation, it will be away from prying eyes and must be done privately.”

Sir David is said to have extended an olive branch by inviting his eldest son to attend his investiture last November, an invitation that was reportedly declined.

The Standard has contacted Brooklyn Beckham, David Beckham and Victoria Beckham’s reps for comment.
