Brooklyn Beckham has responded to critics after he faced backlash for his latest cooking post.
The eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham has sparked headlines about his social media cooking videos as he tries to forge a career as a chef. Brooklyn, 24, started his own YouTube web series Cookin' With Brooklyn and frequently shares his culinary creations on social media.
Brooklyn, who tied the knot with billionaire heiress Nicola Peltz last year, was met with backlash on his latest social media post where he could be seen drinking red wine and holding his rescue puppy Peanut in a baby papoose. The aspiring chef shared snaps where he cooked his recipe for spaghetti bolognese, but fans were critical of one key element.
Brooklyn sipped on red wine while cooking the mince and carrots, while his followers were confused after spotting the wine cork in the pot. As he held his new puppy Peanut in a baby papoose, he captioned the post: “Daddy day care.”
His followers soon took to the comment of the post to share their concern about Brooklyn's dog being so close to the stove, while others were left flummoxed by the use of the wine cork in the pot.
“There’s a cork in your pot …. and dog hair about to join,” wrote one follower. Another added: “I don’t think gas, red wine, and a dog will end well,” while one user joked: “The cork is the main dish.”
Someone said: "When someone told you to “put a cork in it Brooklyn”. They meant …stop talking."
However, some fans rushed to the defence of the star and called out the mean-spirited critics. One said: "no matter what he posts everyone always finds some reason to hate. if you hate what he posts so much why are you wasting your time following and commenting on his stuff??"
Another wrote: "Lots of people say that the Cork adds to the flavour - I'm going to try it next time!"
While a third penned: "Said it before, if you’re just here to hate, leave the kid alone. Would I cook holding my pet? No. Would I cook with the cork in the pot? No. But- it’s his choice…. And so what? As long as he isn’t expecting you to eat it…… so much hate on here?? What ever happened to #bekind."
In a bid to dispel critics, Brooklyn shared a screenshot from Google to justify his cooking technique with the wine cork. He shared a screenshot to his Instagram stories which read: “The addition of wine corks added to the cooking liquid ensures a more tender dish.”
Later in a Q&A, the star was asked: “Are you a chef,” to which he replied, “Nope, but food is my passion.”
