Brooke Scullion and Damian McGinty through to Dancing with the Stars grand final

Derry duo Brooke Scullion and Damian McGinty have made it to the final of Dancing with the Stars.

On the last outing in the popular RTE show at the weekend, Bellaghy native Brooke earned the top score from judges with professional partner Robert Rowinski.

The Eurovision singer will be joined by the Derry City born singer and actor Damian and his dance partner Kylee Vincent to compete for the coveted Glitterball prize on Sunday evening.

The broadcaster Carl Mullan and professional Emily Barker will also take on the Derry duo for the top prize, after comedian Kevin McGahern was eliminated in a close-run penultimate contest.

Bookies' favourite Suzanne Jackson, with partner Michael Danilczuk, were saved by the judges to compete in the final round on Sunday.

Glee star Damian McGinty performed a rumba to Stay by Shakespeare Sister and drew plaudits from the judges.

Judge Brian told the Derry man: "You could have stayed asleep, but you didn’t. You worked in such details. The simplicity delivered by power. Masculinity wrapped in a softness. The way you crossed the floor at one stage wasn’t great but every other part of that rumba was technically as I love to see it."

Eurovision singer Brooke Scullion, meanwhile, scored 30 from the judges for her Cha-cha-cha to the hit 'A Second to Midnight' by Years & Years and Kylie Minogue.

Judge Lorraine said: "Loraine: "If there ever is a moment to showcase yourself it's the semi-final. Right from the moment you hit the stage, you took off that skirt and did the cha, cha, cha. Those lock steps in the middle, great timing, great feet. I’m blown away by your energy."

The Dancing with the Stars Grand Final takes place on Sunday, 19 March on RTÉ One at 6:30pm.
