LeBron James said earlier this week that his son Bronny was facing some tough decisions on his future in basketball amid rumors that he may transfer away from USC. Now we know what the 19-year-old guard has planned.
In a move that will give him the best opportunity to evaluate his options on where to play next, James is both entering the NCAA transfer portal and declaring for the 2024 NBA draft.
James will retain his college eligibility through the process, which means if his workouts with NBA teams don’t lead to promising opportunities, he will be able to return to college basketball and continue to develop his game.
James announced the news himself on Instagram.

James doesn’t show up in 2024 mock drafts at For The Win and Bleacher Report, and The Ringer and Tankathon don’t list James among their top 60 big board prospects.
